O’Malley’s Pub and Tavern
down past the railway platform…
whisky and other great
“wisdom finders” are drained
from bottles
and when the songs of the pub
die to serious conversation,
wisdom is the drink of choice.
The barber, the mayor, the coal miner,
all deep and reminiscent,
all reverberating the ancient
ideas and themes,
the abstract thoughts of poets,
the dreams of painters,
the sound of pain of experience.
These three men,
at 3 am on Saturdays,
are modern wise-men
planting and cultivating the answers,
the philosophies
of fermenting time.
